ESR Analyzer

ZellESR®

ZellESR® is a portable unit with Westergren analysis method and infrared sensor measuring principle. It offers measurement range of 1 to 140 mm/h and has maximum 20 sample loading capacity on simultaneous basis with random access loading pattern. Measuring time is 30 minutes. This fully automated ESR analyser consists of directly measuring the intensity of the red cell aggregation which is for Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR), unlike the traditional ESR methods. ZellESR® measures it directly and expresses the values in mm/hr with 18℃ compensate as per Manley’s chart . ZellESR® is designed with an Intuitive 4” Color touch screen interface, elegant design with compact footprint and has built-in Thermal printer. Barcode scanner access is also available. Upto 9999 result data can be stored making it very easy for hospitals, clinical laboratories, and researchers to use. ZellESR® is Manufactured by Sterile Safequip and Chemicals LLP (an USA based company)  and is Marketed by Zellen Biotech in India.

Standards and Regulations

ESR and ESR Testing

The erythrocyte sedimentation rate, also known as the ESR or sed rate, is a clinical lab test that measures the rate at which red blood cells in whole blood descend into a standardized tube, reported as mm per hour. This test is used to measure inflammation as inflamed red blood cells settle quickly relative to normal blood cells. Thus, a high ESR can be indicative of elevated inflammation, though other conditions such as anemia, renal failure, and obesity can increase ESR rate as well.

ESR testing today has graduated to an automated testing process through ESR analysers. These analysers speed run time, while enhancing safety and accuracy. The standard technique for ESR testing is called the Westergren Method in which whole blood is mixed with sodium citrate or EDTA as an anticoagulant and then added to a standardized calibrated tube, which is allowed to sit for one hour. Sedimentation rate is measured by recording the number of millimeters between the top of the sedimented red blood cells and the zero mark of the tube.
